91 Days To Go!

Wedding Party

Ryan Lynch
Ryan Lynch - Best Man
John and Ryan met at NYU and quickly bonded over shared interests such as drinking a gallon of whole milk a day, lifting weights, and engaging in antics that they found hilarious (and others found questionable). Thankfully, their bond grew over much less superficial interests such as shared passions in politics (#FreePalestine), art, and reading. After graduation and Ryan's stint in the army, the two bought a van together and spent the next year exploring North and South America, climbing mountains along the way. After returning from their year in the mountains, John and Ryan took separate paths and have had less time to see one another. They have, however, grown closer by integrating their respective new friend groups, relationships, and spending time with each other's families. Ryan now lives in a swamp with his wife and two dogs waiting for Lexi and John to come to their senses and move to Jacksonville, FL.
Fitz Nicholas
Fitz Nicholas - Groomsman
John's brother. Over the years, Fitz and John have been roommates, teammates, occasional unsanctioned sparring partners, travel buddies, sources of support for one another, and so much more. The two share a variety of interests including sports, history, music, and physical fitness but occasionally in quite different styles. Fitz is actively promoting a more democratic style of fantasy football than Gerald #letthekickerskick.
Mac Nicholas
Mac Nicholas - Groomsman
John’s brother (occasionally mistaken for his twin). From trekking 20 miles through hurricane force winds to reach a pub in Wales (totally worth it) to befriending the local street dogs of Patagonia (hola Perrito Jameson, wherever you are) to narrowly avoiding being charged by a rather irritable moose in Wyoming (it was 4 AM, that’s our bad), Mac and John have been through quite a bit together. While perhaps not every one of their adventures can be classified as well thought out, they’ve had a damn good time running, climbing, eating, learning, exploring, and everything in between over the last 30 years.
Jack Sargent
Jack Sargent - Groomsman
John’s cousin. Even though we have different parents, we have felt like brothers our whole lives. John has been a (mostly) positive influence in my life and has always been incredibly gracious in inviting me to hang with his crew. In high school, it was fairly common for me to be grounded. John and his rambunctious pack of NYU boys would often descend on the Sargent household for a weekend of beer fueled activities and magically I would be ungrounded! I was always allowed to partake in the fun as long as “responsible cousin John” was there. John has gone through so many different stages of life, from Jimi Hendricks rocker, to NYU frat bro, to remarkably impressive mountain man. Through it all he has been a true brother and friend. I am looking forward to being part of this next chapter. Lexi has her hands full, and it will be great!
Gerald Castaldo
Gerald Castaldo - Groomsman
Gerald is the New York finance guy who somehow ended up best friends with a mountain man like John. They’ve been fraternity roommates, Thailand travel partners, and are usually the last two standing over late-night darts and AC/DC. Like many of John’s closest friends, Gerald has endured a near-death mountain experience he was entirely unprepared for. Even as life has taken them down different paths, their bond remains strong in their love for family, friends, and, of course, roasts at Gerald’s expense.
Ashwinn Krishnaswamy
Ashwinn Krishnaswamy - Groomsman
Ashwinn is one of John’s long-suffering compatriots, reluctantly and unwittingly dragged into more of John’s adventures than any man should reasonably survive. Their joint highlight reel includes summiting one of the tallest 14’ers in Colorado; a 14-hour slog for which Ashwinn’s entire training regimen consisted of a four-mile run in Central Park at zero elevation. Somehow, despite these misadventures, the questionable survival decisions, and the endless bottles of whiskey, John and Ashwinn still manage to survive and find new opportunities to risk life and limb together. May this divine intervention save Lexi on whatever adventure John drags her into.
Ryan Olson
Ryan Olson - Groomsman
Ryan and John met at NYU, and their friendship clicked almost instantly. Living together in the “house” in Chinatown gave them years’ worth of stories - late nights, and the unforgettable day when John came back from a summer in Wyoming and busted through the door with absolute ranch-strength. It was the moment everyone realized, “Ah, so this is what frontier living does to a man.” They bonded through wrestling, long talks, and general hijinx. But one of Ryan’s favorite memories is their first trip out West: a marathon drive to Vegas, camping in the Zion Narrows, and finally reaching Wyoming. Visiting the ranch where John grew up connected all the dots - suddenly his toughness, kindness, and cowboy-adjacent wisdom made perfect sense. Ryan currently resides in Washington DC with his cactus, Frank.
Anthony Evangelista
Anthony Evangelista - Groomsman
Tony first crossed paths with John at NYU, where they met as fraternity pledge brothers and never looked back. They went on to live together in both the legendary Pike House on Lafayette and later at 365 1st Ave—better known as the HQ. A founding member of the Mangy Dawgs, Tony has joined John on everything from motorcycle tours in northern Thailand to ski trips across Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Canada. He also proudly serves as the group’s resident DJ—whether anyone asked for music or not.
Mickey Mitchell
Mickey Mitchell - Groomsman
I met John on the very first day of freshman year of high school. Back then, he was a lanky, scrawny version of himself with a lion’s mane of hair that even the most fearsome man-eater would’ve been jealous of. We bonded over our love of Rage Against the Machine, skating and "extracurricular" activities. Throughout high school, we perfected the classic move of telling our parents we were going to each other’s houses, only to roam around the woods stirring up trouble. It was reckless, fun, and honestly some of the best memories I’ve got. Since then, our friendship has only grown. We’ve bonded over our love for Colorado and the outdoors—though for me, “outdoors” mostly means sitting around a campfire with a whiskey in hand. John’s been a constant from day one: fiercely loyal, hilarious, and always ready for whatever comes next. I couldn’t imagine a better friend.
Adam Weist
Adam Weist - Officiant / Groomsman
Adam met John during his abrupt transition from Indiana cornfields to NYC, where they joined the same fraternity at NYU. Eventually, their friendship matured beyond low-cost domestic beer during a 2012 road trip through the American West, which revealed a shared love of mountain adventures and the joy of suffering a few miles above sea level. Since then, John has become the primary instigator of near-death experiences in Adam’s life. They’ve bushwhacked through the Alaskan Arctic, gasped for air high in the Peruvian Andes, and shared more adventures west of Kansas than either will ever admit to their parents. Their friendship only strengthened over 2.5 years spent living together in Colorado, where Adam serves as the proud third wheel to John and Lexi. Now, he’s thrilled to pass the torch to Lexi — the only one driven enough to match John’s ambition and responsible enough to reinstall the smoke detectors after a fog machine-heavy evening.
Ashley Grape
Ashley Grape - Maid of Honor
As the older (and noticeably shorter — and unquestionably funnier) sister, I have always taken my big-sister duties very seriously. For example: naming her. Our mom was convinced she would go by Alex, but then I watched one episode of Law & Order with a character named “Lexi,” and immediately declared that as her nickname. And just like that, it was. Over time, “Lexi” mysteriously evolved into “Lou,” for absolutely no reason other than #BigSisterPrivilege and my commitment to loving a nickname that only I get to use. While I prefer activities that keep my feet firmly — lovingly — on the ground, Lexi is the adventurous, travel-obsessed sister who will try anything once: skydiving, cliff jumping, and anything else that requires signing a waiver. Despite our wildly different comfort levels with gravity, we have always admired each other’s paths. I call her with every medical concern imaginable, and she FaceTimes me whenever a fashion emergency reaches a code-red level. Being her Matron of Honor is a privilege I am honored to have. I am here for support, expert advice, comedic relief, and to issue a firm “absolutely not” if any surprise extreme-sports opportunities arise on or before the wedding day.
Devon Bergum
Devon Bergum - Bridesmaid
I’m Lexi’s other sister (the stereotypical middle child): mildly adventurous and very pro-sleep—where Lexi and I differ the most. Growing up, we fought like crazy, but no one else was ever allowed to pick on her (cue my intense stare-downs at anyone who even breathed wrong in her direction). These days, we’ve grown a deep, easy friendship full of inside jokes, lots of love, and plenty of “relaxing hangouts.” I’m so grateful we live just a town apart, and I couldn’t be happier to celebrate Lexi’s life with John and the pups!
Kyra Anderson
Kyra Anderson - Bridesmaid
Kyra met Lexi in Denver and quickly learned two important things: Lexi is always down for an adventure, and Lexi can fix just about anything. From spontaneous trips to repairing screen doors destroyed by Kyra’s overly enthusiastic dog, building things that other people would Google three times before attempting, and somehow knowing how to un-shrink jeans, Lexi has been the person Kyra does life with. Whether that means tackling projects, chasing new experiences (like 4-wheeling an hour before Kyra has to work), or figuring things out as they go (like repairing the hole in the 4-wheeler tire 15 minutes before that meeting). Watching Lexi and John’s relationship unfold has been pretty incredible—I couldn’t be more honored to stand by Lexi’s side as she does what she does best: absolutely crush it.
Bryant Smith
Bryant Smith - Bridesmaid
Keegan Mulligan
Keegan Mulligan - Bridesmaid
Keegan and Lexi met in 2021 as sight unseen roommates in Arvada CO. They lived with four other roommates in the house, but their friendship really started to stand out one early morning when Lexi knocked on Keegan's door to ask if he'd like to go hunting for rocks in Manitou with some guy she found on the internet. Ever since, their friendship has been special. From going on spontaneous adventures to being there for each other and having each other's back, it didn't matter what hour of the morning it was (to us). There was one time Keegan and Lexi woke up all the other roommates at an unholy hour of the morning to unlock Lexi's bedroom door with a power drill. Even though they moved out and were no longer roommates, Keegan and Lexi remained close over the years. When Lexi introduced Keegan to John, Keegan knew Lexi had found a great man to share her adventurous and spontaneous life with. Watching John and Lexi's relationship grow and open the door for many new experiences has been a great joy to witness.
